FUGA AU/NZ - General Manager

Henry Compton is the General Manager for Australia and New Zealand at world-leading B2B music distributor FUGA - a Downtown Music company.

With an accomplished career spanning over 25 years across business development, marketing, artist and project management alongside client relations, Compton’s vast experience and understanding of both the global music industry and regional APAC markets has seen him solidify a reputation as a trusted voice within the independent music landscape.

In 2013, Compton took on the role of Client & Retail Marketing Director, Australia & New Zealand for The Orchard, becoming the first direct report for the company in the region. Compton was quickly promoted to Director for Australia & New Zealand where he oversaw all aspects of the local business and substantially grew the shared market revenues throughout the transition of the company’s full acquisition by Sony Music Entertainment; later focussing on business development, client acquisition and retention as Director of Sales & Operations.

Compton also served as a Director on the board of the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) in 2014 and continues to be actively involved in the Independent Australian and New Zealand marketplace, advocating for creators across the region.

Joining FUGA in 2022, Compton is responsible for all business development, strategy and client acquisition in Australia and New Zealand for FUGA as well as working closely within the wider Downtown Music group of companies and their various specialist service offerings covering a range of recording solutions for independent music businesses across both sides of copyright.

With extensive music marketing experience including for #1 and Top 10 ARIA albums from artists such as BTS, Ocean Alley and Ziggy Alberts, Compton is an established music executive who has significantly contributed to the health and vitality of the independent music sector within Australia and New Zealand.
