Taro Kumabe
IMCJ - Vice Chairman

Born in 1964, Taro Kumabe began his career in the music industry in 1987 at Watanabe Productions. As a recording producer, he has worked on numerous artists’ projects as well as soundtracks for films and TV dramas.
In 2001, he was appointed Executive Officer at U’S MUSIC under the U-NEXT Group.
In 2011, he joined the board of the Federation of Music Producers Japan (FMPJ), which represents approximately 230 Japanese music production companies, and served as Chair of its Global Committee.
In 2021, he became Vice Chairperson of the Independent Music Coalition Japan (IMCJ). In 2024, he was appointed Executive Director of CEIPA, an organization established by Japan’s five major music industry groups. In 2025, he will serve as Vice Chair of the International Relations Committee for the MUSIC AWARD JAPAN Executive Committee.
